Lexus LF-LC Blue at Australia Show

The official name of the new concept car from Lexus is LF-LC Blue, and it is currently on display at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. A short list of the vehicles amenities includes a pair of 12-inch LCD touch-screens, sculpted air-intake vents, wrap-around windows, and a carbon-fiber body. The hybrid concept also features a 500-horsepower drivetrain and a high-energy battery pack. Lexus says such organic design is the future of hybrid vehicles. Designers used a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum to give the car its lightweight, efficient fluidity that is part of what the company calls the Lexus Hybrid Drive system. Audi F12 EV: Update

Audi has announced that its three-year research project, which focused on advanced electric mobility, has concluded. The company says the result is a multiple-module tech platform, which has been built into the new F12. The so-called eSport version of the new platform is inside the F12, which features a hardened block with a collision resistant exterior and a 38 kWh electric capacity. The prototype has three completely separate electric motors, one in the front and two in the back. When the car operates at low speeds, only the front motor is activated. ZEROD Green Muscle Car on Display

The Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) features a 600-horsepower, environmental muscle car. Based on the 1967 Ford XR Falcon, the creation, dubbed the ZEROD, features a minimal carbon footprint. Australian entrepreneur Mick Fabar, a nationally known green-construction mogul, came up with the idea of making a muscle car out of scrap, and using a mixture of biodiesel as its fuel. After 18 months in design and construction, the ZEROD made its world debut six months ago at the MotorEx show in Sydney. Now, it will receive a fuller airing at the AIMS event this week and next. Fisker Automotive: Four Awards

Fisker Automotive has collected four new awards, the latest for design and technical innovation. Fast Company Magazine presented Fisker with its Innovation by Design award this week, the Karma besting other nominees, which included Ford Fusion, Faraday Bike, and the Boeing 787 airliner. In addition, Fisker picked up Motor Trend Magazines recognition as one of the Top 10 Future Classics. Swedens Auto Motor Und Sport Magazine gave its Environmental Car of the Year trophy to the Karma, and Germanys Auto Bild Magazine gave the Fisker Karma its Classic Car of the Future award in that competitions limousine category. Tesla Announces Roadster Buyback Program

Tesla Motors has begun an official buyback program for owners who want to exchange their electric Roadster for a new Model S electric car. This is the first time the company has accepted trade-ins for any of its vehicles. Customers who bring in a Roadster will get an immediate credit toward the purchase of a Model S. After that, Tesla stores will refurbish the traded-in Roadsters and offer them for sale at discounted prices, approximately in the $ 75,000 range. For the complete story, see:
